HOPEFUL. (yes, with the period) is more than a band name it’s a declaration: because of Jesus, there’s hope. End of story. Formed during the darkest days of the pandemic, the band began as a lifeline when founding members Randy James (vocals) and Hunter Jackson (lead guitar) were battling anxiety and depression. One lyric saved a life. A friendship sparked a mission. Soon after, Eddie Buelna (bass), James Barragan (drums), and Rafael Bastos (rhythm guitar) joined the journey. Based in Oceanside, CA, HOPEFUL. blends their church roots, surf/skate culture, and a love for soul-drenched, arena-ready indie rock. Their music carries the grit of garage rock, the pulse of the city streets, and the coastal heartbeat of southern California.
